1. Last book you read?

I always have a couple books on the go at once! I just finished Kitchen Bliss by Laura Calder, food-network fans might remember her show French Food at Home. It's a lovely book of essays about cooking, eating and domestic life, accompanied by recipes.

I'm also in the middle of a book called The Conscious Bride which is a self-development book about transitioning into married life. I got engaged last year and this book has helped me navigate my experience. Along the joy and happiness there are also feelings grief, fear, and loneliness, that aren't spoken about concerning this time in a person's life, let alone the conflicts that can arise between friends and family. This book has felt so validating, and is helping me process some emotions that I would have pushed down otherwise, I highly recommend it to anyone who is taking this next step!

2. What song do you have on repeat?

Brass in Pocket by The Pretenders. It came up on shuffle the other day and reminded me how much I love this song. It's become my March anthem:  fresh, funky and perfect to belt in the car with the windows down.

3. What is your favourite Nook in your House?

My kitchen is my happiest place. It's where I cook, create, eat, play, work, take clients - most of my day is spent here. After living in the city for so many years, it feels luxurious for my apartment to have a large eat-in kitchen and my bright blue table is a pride and joy. It was a passed-down piece that my mum and I re-vamped this fall. It makes me smile every morning.

4. What Matters Most to You Right now?

My morning practice is my anchor. I practice kundalini yoga which involves breathing exercises, mantras, meditations and mudras; the active nature of the practice helps me drop in in order to expand.  It helps me start the day with clarity, and gives me the spaciousness I need to give my best to my clients, my community, and my loved ones. I've gone through so much change over the past year: moving to the country, starting my business, and all that comes with those massive life shifts, my practice has been my constant and showing up for myself every day has instilled self-trust in my life choices.

5. Favourite recipe?

I'm in a turmeric latte phase right now. There are so many benefits to consuming turmeric - it's an antioxidant, it's anti-inflammatory, it's a digestive aid and it's wonderful for the skin. I'm always cooking with it but as move from winter to spring, I'm being more intentional about using it daily as it's liver protective, which is the organ associated with Spring in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Ingredients:

2 small dates, pitted and soaked in 1 1/2cups of hot water

1/2 cup nut milk

1 tsp turmeric

1 tsp ghee

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 serving collagen

Method:

Combine the dates and their soaking water, nut milk, turmeric, ghee, vanilla, cinnamon, black pepper and collagen into a blender. Blend on high for 2-3 minutes and serve immediately

6. What are your favourite Matter products and why?

I love the the Neroli Water Facial Mist, it's super soothing and smells so good! I've been experiencing some inflammation in my skin and this spray reduces any redness or irritation. I like that it's astringent but not overly drying. I'm also a die-hard for the Organic Rosehip Seed Oil especially after a good sweat in a hot bath.
